Boise Natural Health naturopathic physicians are now prescribing injectable semaglutide and tirzepatide through compounding pharmacies in town, finally making the medications more accessible for our patients.
Prescription Cost
The cost for these compounded medications in area pharmacies is around $175 – $200 / month, although the price will differ depending on the dose and frequency.
One of the benefits of getting this medication through a compounding pharmacy is that your dose can more easily be adjusted for efficacy and feeling your best. Patients will typically increase their dose once per month until they reach the effective dose. But if patients notice uncomfortable side effects with a dose increase, they can easily step down their dose if needed. There are also different dosing options once your goal has been achieved to help prevent rebound weight gain.
Part of a medically supported weight loss program
At BNHC, the use of semaglutide and/or tirzepatide is just one (quite powerful) piece of a well-rounded weight loss program. We like to set our patients up for success by building strong diet and exercise habits while they are on the medication so that they are losing weight in a healthy way, minimizing the loss of muscle mass, and reducing rebound weight gain when they are ready to discontinue the medication.

Regular appointments and individualization
Patients wanting to explore GLP-1/GIP receptor agonists as a treatment option at BNHC will have regular appointments to assess their progress, monitor for side effects, and troubleshoot any roadblocks they run it to. They will also have access to messages with their doctor for brief questions. Doctors will order lab work as needed, more frequently for those that have thyroid issues and difficulty regulating blood sugar levels.
