Fertility Optimization
Whether you are just starting your fertility journey or have been on the path towards pregnancy for a long time without reaching your goal, you would likely benefit from fertility optimization.
Basic Preconception Care
If you are getting ready to have a baby or are in the first stages of trying to conceive, basic preconception care is where we’ll start. This is a great time to screen for common issues that can contribute to infertility. We’ll help you dial in your diet and lifestyle to get your body ready to support a healthy pregnancy. You will receive guidance on what supplements are most important to start before you get a positive pregnancy test to support fetal development from the very beginning. Your doctor will also determine if you need additional support in other areas based on your individual situation.
Evaluation and Treatment of both Female and Male Infertility
If you’ve been trying to conceive without success, you may need some additional evaluation. Difficulties conceiving can be caused by issues within either partner, so it’s always best to have both partners evaluated. There are many potential causes of infertility but often only a few are evaluated before a couple is diagnosed with “unexplained infertility.” Our goal is to provide you with that explanation and then address the root cause.
Evaluation and Treatment of Recurrent Pregnancy Loss
Some women are able to conceive easily but struggle to maintain a pregnancy. While many of the potential causes are the same as the causes of infertility, there are additional causes to consider. We also support those that experience pregnancy loss while they recover from the physical and emotional trauma of the loss.

Potential causes of fertility challenges:
Infertility | Recurrent Pregnancy Loss |
Poor egg quality Poor sperm quality Nutrient deficiency Suboptimal sex hormone levels Hypothyroidism (or suboptimal thyroid function) Structural changes in the reproductive tract Uncontrolled stress Infection Immune dysfunction PCOS Endometriosis Environmental toxins |
Genetic abnormalities Blood clotting disorders Poor sperm quality Hypothyroidism Suboptimal sex hormone levels PCOS Infection Immune dysfunction Anatomical abnormalities of the uterus |
What if you’re already undergoing conventional fertility treatments?
If you’ve decided to give IUI or IVF a try, we can still support you! Every woman or couple trying to conceive deserves to choose the treatment path that is best for them, whether that be conventional therapies, naturopathic medicine, or a combination of both. If you would like to try and improve your chances for success with IVF, there are recommendations we can make for you. Most of the research for alternative therapies to improve egg quality was actually done on people undergoing IVF (because it’s the only opportunity researchers have to really take a look at the eggs).
If you’d like to learn more about how naturopathic medicine can improve your fertility, schedule an appointment or free consult with Dr. Amanda Grischow or Dr. Nicole Maxwell.
